TRANSJOIK

Over the past 5 years Transjoik have released 5 well received cds and have toured Scandinavia, Europa, USA and Canada. They have established themselves as one of the most exciting blends of traditional folk music and modern urbanity.

Four musicians who use their voices in a way you have never heard. Starting in old recordings of Lappish chant – “yoik,” they have created a modern yet timeless suggestive sound. The vocals are supported by two sets of drums, synth, loops and a bass.

  Sápmi Music and Musikk i Finnmark presents:
THE BRIDGE with INNA ZHELANNAYA

Inna Zhelannaya is a highly profiled barrier breaking russian artist who bases her music on a mix of rock, jazz and ethnic styles. She has worked with several well known russian bands including Alliance - and especially - Farlanders. She has toured all over the world. Inna has recorded many cds, including one with Mari Boine which was recorded in Moscow.

She can be experienced live together with saxophonist Oleg Mariakhin, Kautokeinos guitar-wizard Roger Ludvigsen and Link, during Musikk i Finnmarks "Levende Lokalsamfunn - Musikk på Lopphavet" as part of russian / norwegian “The Bridge” project.

MARI BOINE BAND

Mari Boine’s music is forceful yet mythical. She is a sami artist who has won over the world with her characteristic expression. This is music from Finnmark. This is music from Sapmi. Urbane aboriginal force.

Murmansk – The capital of the Arctic – is the meeting point for artists, the travel industry and politicians during "Norwegian days with a touch of Finnmark” from the 14th – 17th may. The excellent relation between Finnmark and Northern Russia will be celebrated forcefully.


Murmansk Philharmonic Concert Hall is elegant opening venue for Sápmi Music with Mari Boine Band Thursday 15th May.

Áilloš, Ingor Ántte Áilu Gaup, has released a new album 20 years after his last record.

Áilu was born and bred in a nomadic reindeer family in Kautokeino. He started his first band, Ivnniguin, 30 years ago and has since then played all over the world. He has been an actor with Beaivváš Sámi Teahter since 1980. Áilu combines his own sound with traditional music from Africa, India and Inuit Canada.

  Sápmi Music presents:
DUOLVA DUOTTAR & JØRG-1

In 2007 Rap band Duolva Duottar was voted "Performers of the year" in Kautokeino, and also claimed the title ”Young sami of the year” on web site Infonuorra

In the same year they also won the first "Mufistar" award (Musikk i Finnmarks competition for young artists), of NOK 25 000 to cut a record.

Sápmi Music has now awarded them a tour grant, and they are going on tour with Jørg-1, of Tungtvann and Raggabalder fame!
