Sápmi Music produces seminars, concerts and tours with artists who base their artistic expressions on Sápmi cultural background.

The goal of the project is to create cultural productions for the Sápmi population in their core areas, and to bring the cultural diversity of Sápmi out into the open. It shall also distribute productions to all areas where the Sápmi language is inherent and shall export productions to international festivals and launch Sápmi artists in foreign countries.

The unit shall also look after artists (professional musicians, yoikers and composers) from all over Sápmi.

Sápmi Music wishes to be an innovative institution, and will contribute to productions between collaborating environments to create a genuine, artistic product and to catch the strength that lies in the meeting point between artistic expressions.

Production participants

Sápmi professional musicians, yoikers and composers are the most important target group for Sápmi Music activity.Other musicians and composers can participate in projects where Sápmi participants want specific skills within a given music genre.

Sápmi Music shall also to a limited extent promote productions from other aboriginal cultures - especially from other arctic cultures and above all in collaboration with Sápmi artists.
